About Me

Hi! I’m Joy.

I’m a big nerd, so I like to classify myself as a social justice bard, dual-classing as a cleric. I’m also a white, queer, pagan, non-monogamous, kinky, and currently able-bodied cis woman.

In This Work, I Aspire To…

My goal is to walk alongside folks as they navigate liminal, in-between spaces - whether those spaces are constant in their lives because they live on the margins, or they’re currently undergoing life changes, or both. My first duty is to listen to the question, the issue, the current story - then we seek clarity and good counsel, greater liberation and deeper grace. I look for the story that plucks a pattern out of chaos, that shows a way forward or a useful question to ask.

This Work Comes Out Of…

  • 8+ years offering spiritual and pastoral care to community member and the public through tarot and other forms of divination.

  • Ministerial program through the New Seminary, an interfaith seminary focusing on preparing folks to work in and with spiritually diverse communities.

  • 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education at WakeMed (that is, training for chaplains), including training on deep listening, crisis management, making meaning, and pastoral care.

  • 7+ years offering oracular divination and associated services to the community with Hasaeti, an eclectic group with a focus on the study and practice of oracular divination in various traditions.
